I just received this e-mail from Julie Parrish over at hotcouponworld.
This is from one of the best-she has been couponing and watching sales for a long time, you definitely want to read this:
"Brands to watch this week:
Soda - all brands including generics. The first round of summer soda sales should be kicking in this week. It seems the competition for big event sales like 4th of July and Labor Day means those sales start earlier and earlier each year. Soda tends to be the first thing that goes on sale, and it stays on the longest. So starting this week, you should be able to pick up soda for a decent price. For Memorial Day, the best price I got was $1.90 for a 12-pk of Coke branded cans. I expect it should be able to get into the $2 range for the 4th, so something to watch for.
Sun Screen - all brands. The first two weeks of June tends to be good for sunscreen deals. Banana Boat, Tropicana, and even store brands like WAGS should be priced well this week. I tend to stock up for the entire summer. A BOGO sale + coupons can get even the best brands down to just a few bucks a bottle. And with three kids, believe me, we go through a ton of it, so be sure to stock it while it's cheap. It typically has a 2-year shelf life (at least according to the label).
Falling prices this week:
Icecream - I think I tend to pay attention to icecream this time of year because of the whole birthday thing, but dairy in general is down so low right now, that loss leaders on icecream will be with us throughout the month of June. I've seen as low as $1.99 on the "half-gallons" of brands like Dreyers and Breyers, so definitely something to watch for.
More on the summer produce - corn, tomatoes and berries should all be great this week. If you're a home canner, it's time to stock up on strawberries for jams/jellies and syrups. They're at the peak of the season right about now, which means you're going to get the best price on them in the next week or so."
